i grow weary of all this talk of versioning the web…
O’Brien’s view is worth being looked at…best way to pragmatically understand it is the following: ask most of your friend who jumped crazily on Facebook, kept adding tools, building huge lists of friends who were only friends on Facebook and who slowly but surely are now suppressing info on them, closing doors, stopping to see their posts on their funwalls…this is web 3.0 in action !
I agree Jean-Pascal, first it was the application fatigue and now the “suppression of info”. This plus the surge of micro social networks and the closed desktop networking solutions arising will make self-distribution a reality.
It’s true that the labeling is getting tiresome but in the context of O’Brien’s piece, it serves its purpose.
